Orphaned by disease and traumatized by war, Kateri, a young Mohawk maiden, was evangelized by French Catholic missionaries. Responding to the Christlike example of an enlightened missionary, Kateri becomes one of her peoples' most fervent converts to the Catholic faith in North America, and our nation's first Native American saint.
